production method | 4-p-nitrophenyl-4-hydroxybutanone-2 is obtained by the addition of p-nitrobenzaldehyde and acetone, it is obtained by eliminating dehydration with sulfuric acid. P-nitrobenzaldehyde was dissolved in acetone, cooled to about 5 °c, and sodium hydroxide solution was added dropwise with stirring. After the addition, the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 20min and neutralized to pH = 4-5 by addition of 15% sulfuric acid. The precipitate was filtered off, and the filtrate was recovered from acetone. The residue was added to 7 times the amount of 15% sulfuric acid, and heated and hydrolyzed for 30min. The product was obtained by cooling, filtering, washing the filter cake with water and recrystallization in ethanol. The yield was 80%. |
